The World Outside

This is the photo that won the ‘Pulitzer Prize’ in 1994 during the Sudan famine.

Looks familiar?

The picture depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards a United Nations food camp located a kilometre away (and to think that we have so many types of transport).

The vulture as you can see, is waiting for the child to die so it can eat it (we Malaysian’s never die of hunger, people here die because they eat too much).

This picture shocked the world (no shit!).

No one knows what happened to the child, including the photographer Kevin Carter who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken (he obviously wanted to get away from the vulture).

Three months later Kevin committed suicide due to depression (death caught up to him eventually).

Ok, enough with the stupid jokes. The reason I put up this picture is because it creates so much emotions inside us. We feel sad because of the poor kid and his country. The horror of the vulture waiting to eat the kid (imagine some bird waiting beside for you to die so he can come and peck your flesh off piece by piece). As a matter of fact, you don’t have to die, just get exhausted and lie still and it’ll come running and eat you alive. We also feel self satisfaction because when we compare our lives with theirs, we know we got it good no matter how poor we are. This picture makes my knees weak. It’s just so sad....

So people, the next time you waste your food, natural resources, or whatever shit it is.... think of these people. The least you could do is not waste, or you could help these people out if you have the means. We as a civilized species should help each other out, regardless of any differences we might have. Look around you, the world is too big for you to live alone.

I know it sounds crappy but oh you get what I mean.
